at Farnborough International Airshow 2024
A team of dedicated ITP Aero STEM Ambassadors gathered at the Farnborough International Airshow today to inspire the Pioneers of Tomorrow. Comprising experienced manufacturing and quality engineers, apprentices, and T Level students, the team engaged children and young attendees with a variety of activities at ITP Aero’s exhibition stand.
These activities included guiding Lego Robots and assembling toy Pearl and Trent engines on a special mat using coding buttons on a tablet. Coding plays a crucial role in technological advancement in our industry, and these are essential skills that all children will eventually acquire.
Young aviation enthusiasts had the opportunity to design, decorate, and construct their wooden planes, while older participants worked on rebuilding a metal plane sculpture created by ITP Aero T Level students. These students are currently pursuing a combination of college studies and work placements at ITP Aero’s Hucknall site in Nottinghamshire.
The STEM day organized by ITP Aero was led by its STEM Ambassadors, who provided guidance to participants and shared insights into pathways to careers in engineering and manufacturing through ITP Aero’s apprenticeship programs, graduate recruitment initiatives, and collaborations with educational institutions such as T Level programs and work experience opportunities.
Eva Azoulay, Chief Executive Officer for ITP Aero, said: “The final day of the week at Farnborough transitions from a commercial business-to-business trade show to a public event, offering a unique opportunity for us to showcase the ‘magic’ behind our work to power flight and developing innovative future flight technologies that the next generation of engineers and manufacturers will work on. The ‘Pioneers of Tomorrow’ event allows families and groups to engage with the aerospace industry, enjoy airshow displays, and participate in interactive activities hosted at our stand, fostering a fun and educational experience for all.”
