ITP today made the final delivery of an Atar engine which has been maintained at the company’s Ajalvir facilities (Madrid).

The event was overseen by the Air Force Commander in Chief of Logistic Support (MALOG), Lieutenant General José María Orea Malo, and also attended by representatives of Safran Aircraft Engines (the current name of the French company Snecma, which manufacturers the Atar engine), including Laurent Roudier, Head of the Atar Programme.

Maintenance work began on the Atar in 1978 and since then over 800 Atar engines have been repaired at Ajalvir for different clients, particularly the Spanish Air Force and Snecma itself. This final delivery marks the completion of the Atar programme, in which ITP has become an international benchmark for its maintenance work on the engine.

Among other aircraft, for over three decades the Atar engine powered the Dassault Mirage F1 fighter, which played a crucial role in defending Spanish airspace until its retirement from service in 2013.
