ITP Aero is a risk and revenue sharing partner for the entire Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engine family, being responsible for the design, development, production and assembly of the low-pressure turbine.
The Trent XWB is the world’s most efficient large engine. Developed for the Airbus A350 aircraft, the Trent XWB stands out for its reliability and fuel efficiency balance, achieving savings of 2.9 million euros per aircraft per year. There are currently more than 1,600 orders for Trent XWB engines.
This is the first time an Indian airline has ordered the Trent XWB and the deal will make Air India the largest operator of the Trent XWB-97 in the world. Financial details of the order have not been disclosed.
Mikel Lantero, CEO of ITP Aero’s civil business unit, said:
“Today’s announcement is a very exciting milestone for ITP Aero as a risk and revenue sharing partner of the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB programme. With this order Air India will become the largest operator of the Trent XWB-97 in the world, with this programme being one of the cornerstones for ITP Aero’s future growth.”
