Our story

ITP Aero is currently the ninth largest aircraft engine and components company in the world by revenue. Ranking among the top one hundred companies in the aerospace industry (Top 100 Aerospace Companies, PwC and Flight International, 2015), the company has production centres in Spain, United Kingdom, Mexico, the United States, Malta and India with over 3,600 employees.

ITP Aero includes among its activities the design, research and development, manufacturing and casting, assembly and testing of aeronautical engines. It also provides MRO services for a wide range of engines for regional airlines, business aviation, helicopters, industrial and defence applications. In 2017 ITP Aero became part of the Rolls-Royce Group and operates as a corporate entity

Success story

Creation of ITP, with SENER and Rolls-Royce support. EJ200 engine development programme for the Eurofighter Typhoon.

Acquisition of CASA’s engine maintenance plant in Ajalvir (Madrid).

Opening of the engine components manufacturing plant in Zamudio (Bizkaia).

First contract with Rolls-Royce: Trent 700 and 800 engines, for Airbus A330 and Boeing 777 airplanes.

Contract for the engine maintenance of RAF’s Tucano airplanes in UK.

Contract with GE for the LM2500 industrial gas turbine and constitution of CTA (Centro de Tecnologías Aeronáuticas)

International expansion begins: opening of Querétaro subsidiary, Mexico.

Participation agreements with Rolls-Royce for the Trent 500 for the Airbus A340 and with Honeywell for the HTF7000 engine.

PCB set up.

Signing of the contract for the TP400 engine for the A400M military transport aircraft. and participation agreement with Rolls-Royce for the Trent 900 engine for the Airbus A380.

Participation in the MTR390-E engine programme for the Tiger helicopter and agreement with Pratt & Whitney Canada for the maintenance of the PW200 helicopter engine.

Participation agreement with Rolls-Royce for the Trent 1000, Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner engine.

OATB opening, open air test bench for the TP400 engine, in Seville.

International growth continues: acquisition of Alstom Aerospace and setting up of ITP Engines UK, heir of sir Frank Whittle legacy (modern aviation engine inventor) and acquisition of Aeromaritime (facilities in Malta, UK and US).

Participation agreement with Rolls-Royce for the Trent XWB engine for the Airbus A350 and opening of the Albacete plant, focused on aeronautical engines maintenance, specially helicopters.

First production plant in India.

Entered the single-aisle aircraft and regional engine market: participation agreement with Pratt & Whitney for the PW1000G engine and signing of the Framework Agreement for the maintenance of Spanish Ministry of Defence aeronautical engines.

Participation agreement with Rolls-Royce for the Trent 1000 engine and acquisition of regional aviation engine PW100 maintenance business. Constitution of ITP Externals.

Participation agreement with Pratt & Whitney Canada for the PurePower® PW814 and PW815 engines for Gulfstream's G500 and G600 business jets.

Strategic collaboration agreement with Rolls-Royce whereby ITP becomes the supplier of its low-pressure turbines and of the new high speed turbines and agreement with Rolls-Royce to participate in the Trent 7000, the engine for the Airbus A330neo. Participation as core partner in Clean Sky 2.

Rolls-Royce agrees to acquire the 53.1% shareholding in Industria de Turbo Propulsores SA ("ITP") owned by SENER Grupo de Ingeniería SA.

Opening of the new casting facility in Sestao (Spain) and in December, following permissions granted by the European Commission and Spanish Government, ITP join the Rolls-Royce Group as a corporate entity.
